Premac® is a lead loaded acrylic copolymer resin and is used for effective radiation shielding, including radiation from x-rays, whilst still being transparent for observations.
Premac® is a very expensive material and has only one manufacturer in the world.
The Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) at Aldermarston had a specific machining requirement for this very special and brittle material and entrusted Bray Plastics to carry out the work.
